Our epic new South Africa to Antarctica Expedition transports you from the tip of Africa to the snowy wonderland of Antarctica – an experience which has lured travelers such as astronaut Buzz Aldrin, Bear Grylls and Prince Harry. Following four days in the city of Cape Town we will transfer you 2,400 miles across the Southern Ocean by private jet. Landing on a blue-ice runway you will be welcomed by the white deserts of Antarctica and hosted in luxury igloo pods. Your 6 days are spent exploring ice caves, crossing frozen lakes, summiting mountains, rock climbing and encountering a 14,000 strong Emperor Penguin colony. This is an expedition for the daring, the thrill-seeker and avid explorer. Bid goodbye the snowy wonderland as you return to Cape Town for the second leg of your LuxVenture® Expedition – a visit to South Africa’s most sought after safari destination, the Kruger National Park. Retreat to the African bush for 4 days at one of the park’s most prestigious private lodges, Singita Lebombo, and witness the big five on game drives and walking safari expeditions.
You are welcomed to the city of Cape Town by a glimpse of the famous Table Mountain from your window seat of your international flight. Touch down in Cape Town International Airport where you will be met by a Ker & Downey Africa representative ready to escort you to your hotel. Your home base for the upcoming three nights, The Silo Hotel, is not only an architectural masterpiece but has also hit the Condé Nast Traveler 2018 Hot List. Towering over the V&A Waterfront and the city’s iconic Table Mountain, The Silo Hotel occupies six floors above Zeitz MOCAA – Africa’s largest collection of contemporary African art. The hotel itself is a celebration of art, style, architecture and design – boasting multi-faceted windows which bulge outward by 1 metre and transforms the building into a glowing beacon at night.
After a seamless check-in you can enjoy welcome drinks on the Silo Rooftop — the tallest building in the V&A Waterfront. Dinner will be served in the The Granary Café, dishing up contemporary interpretations of classic dishes as well as executive chef Veronica Canha-Hibbert’s own creations including Tuna Tartare, Cauliflower & Chestnut Gnocchi, Springbok Shank, Cape Seafood Curry, and a 300g Beef Ribeye.

Rise and shine in the Mother City and take in incredible views of the harbour and mountain from your suite. To start off your day in the city, enjoy breakfast in the Granary Café and choose from a selection of delicious Eggs Benedict to simple soft boiled eggs served with Healey’s Cheddar soldiers. After breakfast, your driver will meet you in the hotel lobby and accompany you on your day of exploration in the city and surrounds. Depending on your interests, choose a day-tour which has been crafted to your needs. Whether you are after an adventure, art or culturally oriented experience, your Adventurist will ensure a day filled with the best on offer in Cape Town.
Return to the hotel after your day out-and-about and spend the afternoon at leisure. The hotel offers a variety of on-site experiences such as a visit to the famous Zeitz MOCAA below the hotel, a stroll through the hotel’s exclusive art collection located in The Vault, savor your drink of choice at the Willaston Bar or spend a relaxed afternoon in the Silo Spa.

Today marks the start of your Antarctica Expedition. After a hearty breakfast at the hotel you will check out and transfer to the airstrip for your onwards flight to Wolf’s Fang runway in Antarctica. You will travel in utmost comfort across the mighty southern ocean in a Gulfstream private jet. During the short 5hr flight, the African night turns to day as you soar over thousands of icebergs and pass into 24 hours of continuous sunshine. After touching down in Antarctica, you will be transferred by DC3 Basler, call sign ‘Mia’ to your luxury camp, Whichaway Camp. Expect a 30 minute flight to the camp. As part of our commitment to preserving Antarctica, all emissions from flights to, from and whilst on the continent, are offset by fully accredited carbon-neutral schemes. Your afternoon activity will include a visit to The Wolf’s Fang mountain range. These mountains consist of kilometre high monoliths of rock which rise vertically from the ice and creates a landscape that is simply breathtaking. Explore the site with expert guides accompanying you every step of the way. Top off your adventurous day by retreating to Whichaway Camp and enjoying a state-of-the-art dinner. Whichaway Camp is uniquely adventurous and the perfect luxury base from which to start your expedition. The camp consists of six state-of-the-art sleeping pods that are heated and designed to accommodate two people in each. At just over 6m (20ft) in diameter, these pods are spacious, offering everything you may need including a writing desk, wash area and toilet. The rest of the camp comprises a shower pod, kitchen and three centralised pods that make up the reception, lounge and dining room.
With only 12 travelers on each expedition and professional polar explorers as your guides, the day’s itineraries are tailored to each individual’s excitement level. Explore the ice-covered continent at your pace, from moderate treks and picnics overlooking the ice waves, to more adrenaline-fueled activities such as kite-skiing and ice climbing. Wake up at Whichaway Camp and do as much or as little as you like each day. Take time out to put a brush to canvas or learn to rock climb on a nearby ‘Nunatak’ mountain. The choice is yours. After an adventurous day out, retreat to the comfort of Whichaway Camp. The dining table accommodates 14 people and is the ideal space for sharing stories about the day’s adventures and great food. Busy days exploring Antarctica are sure to work up an appetite. Hearty breakfasts, elegant lunches and three course dinners will mean you are well-fed whilst exploring the bottom of the globe.
Whichaway Camp consists of six state-of-the-art sleeping pods that are heated and designed to accommodate two people in each. At just over 6m (20ft) in diameter, these pods are spacious, offering everything you may need. There is also a sauna and wellness pod for daily meditation, yoga sessions and massages. Escape the city hustle and bustle.
Trek through a series of ice tunnels with a guide or traverese the icy landscape on a 4×4 expedition. Join your polar guide and rock climb to the summit of a nearby Nunatak before abseiling down to the base. After the day’s activities you will hear a talk about the incredible life cycle of the Emperor Penguins in preparation for your visit the following day.
Today you will fly 2.5 hours across Antarctica over the Polar Plateau to witness the Emperor Penguin colony at Atka Bay. Witness this unique and awe-inspiring spectacle, observing the real-life stars of the March of the Penguins. This was a full-length nature documentary from 2005.
Hardly any other humans have visited the colony. Antarctic environment and IAATO guidelines are followed by observing the 25 meters (80 feet) distance from the penguins. This is definitely one for the bucket list.
On day seven the he morning is spent exploring the area around the camp, with the various ice tunnels that are so beautiful. In the afternoon you will enjoy an Artic truck safari. This takes you through snow and ice to incredible view points over the Antarctic.
The following day there is a hike along a cliff face with world-class mountain guides that will lead you, ensuring safety at all times.
Whichaway Camp consists of six state-of-the-art sleeping pods that are heated and designed to accommodate two people in each. At just over 6m (20ft) in diameter, these pods are spacious, offering everything you may need. Waste management is kept to a minimum as all solid waste is shipped back to South Africa.
After a hearty breakfast prepared by the Whichaway chefs, you will board the final flight crossing the Drygalski Mountains to the Wolf’s Fang runway. A final champagne celebration will be prepared to salute your unforgettable trip to the last great wilderness on earth. Board the Gulfstream private jet and prepare for your 5 hour return flight to Cape Town. On arrival, you will be transferred to your connecting flight to Skukuza to Singita Lebombo. Set within the Kruger National Park, on a privately leased concession, lies Singita Lebombo Lodge. Camouflaged against the backdrop of the African bush, perched above the N’wanetsi River, the bold, yet simple lodge overlooks the vast Kruger landscape and accompanying wildlife. Comprising of 13 suites, expect contemporary open plan rooms overlooking expansive views of the river below. Other highlights of the organic lodge include a 25m lap pool, an espresso bar, a wine studio, an interactive kitchen, a roof terrace, and a help-yourself deli.

Unwind after your travels at the Singita Lebombo spa before boarding a Land Rover with a professional guide to explore the Singita Kruger National Park. On your game drive your guide will stop at a chosen viewpoint where you can enjoy a drink and snacks while watching the sun dip under the horizon.
Wake to the sound of bush birds and the flowing N’wanetsi River below. Your morning will start with a small breakfast bite before setting off for your first game drive in the Kruger National Park. Your game ranger will take you deep into the bush for world-class wildlife sightings which could include large prides of lions, elephant, hippopotamus, leopard, black and white rhino, cheetah and buffalo. Stop off at a viewpoint to drink in the views of the landscape over a strong cup of coffee. Return to the lodge for your full breakfast experience and spend the rest of your day at leisure. Afternoons can be spent on guided safari walks, partaking in Archery practice or joining in on a local cooking class. Alternatively, pay a visit to the the gym, spa or relax at the swimming pool in the heat of the day. Your second game drive will commence around 4pm daily which ends off with sunset drinks in the bush. Return to the lodge for dinner followed by stargazing on the deck.
