Ker & Downey® Africa > Trips > Private Fly-in Luxury Namibia Safari
Characterized by vast open spaces, ever-changing landscapes and secluded luxury lodges, Namibia is the perfect destination for discerning travelers looking to skip the crowds and retreat into one of Africa’s most breathtaking safari destinations. From the desert realms of Sossusvlei to the hauntingly beautiful Skeleton Coast, this 8 day Private Fly-in Luxury Namibia Safari invites you to soak up the sheer beauty of Namibia by air on private charter flights and learn the lay of the land alongside your very own experienced naturalist safari guide in Etosha National Park.
Your Fly-in Luxury Namibia Safari begins in the vibrant city of Windhoek where you will be transferred from your hotel of choice to Eros Airport. Here, you will board a private light aircraft flight and journey over the central highlands and ancient desert realms to the Sossusvlei Desert Lodge airstrip in the NamibRand Nature Reserve. On arrival, your guide will welcome you and transfer you to your lodge. Set against the backdrop of Sossusvlei Private Desert Reserve, the luxurious Sossusvlei Desert Lodge offers guests a secluded retreat on the border of an International Dark Sky Reserve, so you are assured a stargazing extravaganza. Explore the world’s oldest desert on specialist-led scenic 4×4 drives, guided desert walks and quad-bike tours. You will also have the opportunity to visit Namib Naukluft National Park. Home to some of the tallest sand dunes in the world, you will enter the Park gates at sunrise to capture the dunes whilst the light is soft and shadows accentuate their towering shapes and curves.
Located in the Sossusvlei Private Desert Reserve, Sossusvlei Desert Lodge features 10 luxurious stone and glass suites fitted with a living room, large retractable skylight, shaded veranda and a private plunge pool that overlooks the desert vista. The main guest area includes a bar, sitting room, walk-in cellar and interactive kitchen, as well as a sunrise fitness centre and spa.
Discover the oldest living desert in the world on guided excursions to the Sossusvlei, specialist-led 4×4 drives and walks and world-class stargazing each night with the resident astronomer. You will also get to choose from a 45 minute scenic helicopter or hot air balloon flight over Sossusvlei (not valid July-August or 15 January-15 February and 25 December).
Wake up and enjoy a leisurely breakfast in the desert. Your guide will meet you and transfer you to the nearby airstrip for your private light aircraft flight to Mowani Mountain Camp. You’ll catch a birds eye view of Namibia’s captivating Atlantic coastline dotted with the haunting shipwrecks, crowded seal colonies, abandoned diamond camps and glittering lagoons of Walvis Bay. The secluded Mowani Mountain Camp is hidden amongst the towering boulders that make up the Damaraland and is the perfect base to explore this historical region. Discover the ancient rock engravings of Twyfelfontein, witness the desert adapted wildlife in Aba Huab River Valley and embark on the walking safari in the Damaraland desert in search of rhino and elephant.
This morning you will have an early departure from Mowani Mountain Camp as you make your north towards the southern border of Etosha National Park, stopping en route for a picnic lunch. Located in the privately-owned Ongava Game Reserve, Ongava Lodge offers discerning guests luxurious accommodation fitted with all the creature comforts you might need. Here, you can choose to relax at the lodge’s swimming pool and watch game at the nearby waterhole, or embark on expertly guided safari game drives and walking safaris in Etosha National Park, home to a wide variety of game and bird species.
Situated on a private reserve bordering Etosha National Park, Ongava Lodge features 14 luxury chalets fitted with ensuite bathrooms, personal bar and private deck overlooking the reserve. The guest area houses a bar, spacious dining area, swimming pool and panoramic views of the waterhole frequented by wildlife.
A safari experience at Ongava Lodge includes twice daily scheduled camp activities. This includes 4×4 game drives in Ongava Private Reserve or Etosha National Park, as well as expertly guided nature walks and bird watching. Your LuxVenture® Designer can also arrange for you to visit Etosha’s state-of-the-art Visitor’s Centre.
Today marks the final day of your Private Fly-in Luxury Namibia Safari. After breakfast, you will make your way south, passing through the small towns of Outjo and Otjiwarongo before stopping at the Okonjima AfriCat Day Centre, an educational experience with which to conclude your safari. Okonjima is home to the AfriCat Foundation, a wildlife sanctuary which focuses on the research and rehabilitation of Africa’s big cats. Here, you will learn about the Foundation and meet some of the Foundation’s honorary ambassadors. From here, you will continue your journey south to your accommodation of choice in Windhoek, or Windhoek International Airport for your onward journey home.
