Day one – two

Arrive at Kasane International Airport

Check in Chobe Chilwero

Your romantic honeymoon starts at the Kasane International Airport where a Ker & Downey® Africa representative will greet you with a smile and assist you with your luggage to the awaiting transfer vehicle. From there, it’s a short 35-minute road transfer to Chobe Chilwero Lodge, where you’ll be spending the next two nights. Chobe Chilwero is conveniently set on the fringes of Chobe National Park. The property boasts fine amenities such as elegantly decorated and spacious rooms, a romantic Pool Suite, gourmet dining, and a pool and revitalizing spa. Before taking in your first African sunset on a picturesque sundowner cruise along the iconic Chobe River, allow yourself time to unwind and settle in after your travels. With a cold gin and tonic in hand, float down the calm river to the sound of hippos grunting as the sun sets. There is nothing more breathtaking than your first African sunset. After a delicious meal at the lodge, retire for the evening so that you can feel refreshed for the next day’s adventures.

Experience morning and afternoon game drives with your expert guide in Chobe National Park or cruise on the Chobe River where you are bound to see animals on the banks of the Chobe River. Should you want to do a private photographic cruise, this can be arranged.

Day three – five

Transfer to Khwai Concession

Check in Machaba Camp

After enjoying your morning private activity in Chobe National Park, and a generous sized breakfast at the lodge, you’ll transfer back to Kasane Airport. From here you will board a light aircraft flight bound for Khwai Private Reserve, to your next lodge. Upon arrival at Khwai airstrip, there is a short drive to the Machaba Camp. Elephants prefer this 1800-square kilometer area of land, which the Khwai River carves into, as dense Mopane forest thrives there. The concession was created by the Khwai Development Trust and is being run by the Khwai villagers as an active ecotourism zone. The Khwai River is a great site to observe elusive species such as wild dogs and leopards since the lagoons are generally continuously flooded and draw a large concentration of game to the water’s edge. Machaba Camp is luxurious but unobtrusive, and it welcomes both seasoned safari travelers and newcomers to Botswana. Due to its autonomous ownership and management, the camp has a cozier, more intimate atmosphere than many other safari lodges.

Located in the game-rich Khwai area, Machaba Camp offers an authentic safari experience to those traveling to Botswana. The 10 eco-luxury canvas tents boast spectacular river views and facilities include a spa therapist who can provide treatments in the comfort of your room.

On game drives you’ll be on the lookout for Africa’s giants, while on night safaris it’s all about the thrill of predators on the hunt. Seasonal mokoro safaris and walking safaris are popular activities at Machaba Camp too. All appeal to the novice safari goer as well as the veteran safari traveler. Nothing says romance more, than gliding through the narrow Okavango channels, than in a mokoro canoe.

Day six – eight

Transfer to the Okavango Delta

Check in Gomoti Plains Camp

This morning you will be transferred back to the Khwai airstrip for a short light aircraft flight to the Qororkwe airstrip, which services the Gomoti Plains Camp in the south-eastern section of the Okavango Delta. From there, it is a short 30-minute drive to the camp, where you will spend the final three nights on your Luxury Botswana Okavango Honeymoon LuxVenture®. Gomoti Plains Camp is situated next to one of the smaller of the water system’s flood plains and is named after the river it borders. The unique canvas tents, which are surrounded by towering palm trees, offer eco-luxurious accommodation in a region that is teeming with fantastic opportunities to see both land- and water-based game.

Where you’ll stay: Gomoti Plains Camp

Gomoti Plains Camp is situated on the Gomoti river system. Consisting of 10 luxury tented suites built on wooden decks, this camp is sophisticated, yet contemporary. Iconic signature style tents and decorations offer guests a unique safari experience incorporating the natural environment.

Exceptional land- and water-based activities await at Gomoti Plains. Expect twice daily expertly guided game drives, seasonal mokoro safaris, night safaris, walking safaris and motor boat safaris. Day nine

Light aircraft flight to Maun

Board your flight home

Your journey homeward begins with a road transfer back to the nearby Qororkwe airstrip for your onward light aircraft flight to Maun. Here, you will connect with your international flights home, filled with exceptional honeymoon photographs and memories.
