This 12 day bush and beach itinerary will inspire you with its impressive collection of luxury lodges and perfectly crafted experiences that capture the essence of a Tanzania and Zanzibar safari. Our team has hand-selected properties from the exclusive XO Private portfolio, which ensures the highest level of service and quality in its carefully curated portfolio. You will witness millions of wildebeest make their way through the Serengeti first-hand from a luxury migration camp before laidback days on the island paradise of Zanzibar – a land steeped in culture, history and extraordinary beauty.
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, a representative from Ker & Downey® Africa will welcome you and assist you with your transfer to Siringit Villa by Mantis, just outside the town of Arusha. Arusha is widely known as the gateway town to the northern safari circuit which includes the renowned Serengeti National Park. After you have checked in, you will have time to relax and enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings at the lodge. We highly recommend a walk along the golf course where the first nine tees border a stunning lake with small waterfalls. All throughout the property, you can enjoy spectacular views of the neighboring Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro.
This elegant 6 bedroom luxury villa is situated on the first and only 18-hole golf course in Tanzania and has been carefully created to provide an unrivaled guest experience. The villa, which can be booked exclusively, comprises luxurious bedrooms with wooden decks overlooking the picturesque Kilimanjaro Golf and Wildlife Estate.
Enjoy a round of golf amongst spectacular natural backdrops followed by a delicious sundowner overlooking the golf course and dinner expertly prepared to order by Michelin Star Chef Alex Janssens and his team. Reading books are provided in the lounge area of the villa and there are also plenty of board games to keep you entertained.
After a delicious made-to-order breakfast from Chef Alex and his team, you will check out and take a scenic 1.5 hours drive to Lake Manyara National Park. No northern circuit safari trip would be complete without a visit to the famous alkaline lake at Manyara. Here, amongst grassy floodplains, rocky outcrops and acacia woodlands, you might be lucky enough to spot the legendary tree-climbing lions. Enjoy a picnic-style lunch on the lake’s north western shore with fabulous views of the vast flocks of pink-hued flamingos along the shore line. After lunch, you will be transferred from Lake Manyara to Gibbs Farm – the first XO Private accredited property in this itinerary. Upon arrival, you will have the chance to immerse yourself in the rhythms of the farm and enjoy a sense of tranquility and well-being. Enjoy an extraordinary candle light dinner made up of delicious organic dishes and hearty farm fare. The following day, you will embark on a half day trip to experience the famous Ngorongoro Crater. This includes a Crater descent and a game drive in this pristine wildlife-rich region. In the afternoon, enjoy Arabica coffee grown and roasted on the farm accompanied by scones and other organic goods. Other activities include a unique two-hour walking safari through the forested slopes of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to see the spectacular elephant caves.
Enjoy mouthwatering farm-to-table cuisine picked from the organic gardens on your doorstep. Guests can also visit the neighboring communities and schools, or meet a local family to learn about the traditional culture. Some other activities include guided walks, bird watching, coffee picking and processing, morning baking class or simply exploring the substantial 32 acres of pristine gardens.
After a farm-style breakfast consisting of organic fruits and freshly baked pastries, you will be transferred to the local airstrip in Manyara. Here, you will board your scheduled light aircraft flight to your next destination in the Serengeti – the Royal Migration Camp. Because this is a seasonal camp, the location will either be in the south or north of the Serengeti, so the flight path will be adjusted accordingly. From the airstrip, you will embark on a scenic drive to the camp in the heart of the Serengeti where you will automatically feel the embrace of nature. On arrival, you will be escorted to your luxury tent to begin the safari leg of your journey. On the first afternoon your personal guide will take you out into the Serengeti to see the Big Five amongst the vast plains and seemingly endless horizons. You can also choose to embark on a walking safari with your dedicated guide or a Maasai Village cultural experience. In between the safari activities, you can enjoy the facilities at the camp.
The Royal Migration Camp is an all-inclusive camp with just six luxury tents, each enjoying a private terrace and opulent amenities. Ensuring the highest level of exclusivity and personalized service, each tent comes with a private valet and safari vehicle. In the main public area there is a dining tent, well-appointed lounge tent, library, cozy and inviting bar, invigorating swimming pool and a spa.
Private 4×4 safari game drives are conducted with knowledgeable guides that will share their passion for the land and its history. You can choose between an open or closed vehicle for your personal comfort. One of the highlights of your stay will undoubtedly be learning about the migratory habits of the Great Wildebeest Migration and witnessing this spectacle first hand. When evening comes, sit around the campfire and share stories about your captivating day in the bush filled with plenty of thrilling wildlife sightings.
After your final breakfast in the dining tent at Royal Migration Camp, you will head off to the airport for a 2-hour direct connection flight to Zanzibar to begin the beach section of your Tanzania and Zanzibar safari adventure. You will be transferred through Stone Town to your next destination on the island – the Tulia Zanzibar Unique Beach Resort. The resort is located in Pongwe and is considered one of the most picturesque beaches in Zanzibar. This resort hotel ensures the best possible service and that is why it is a proud member of XO Private. Enjoy the next 5 days relaxing after your thrilling safari in the Serengeti in a tropical island haven that is renowned for its wonderful friendly staff, excellent cuisine, and unparalleled beauty.
Offering the ultimate in barefoot luxury, this exclusive property is located on the East coast of Zanzibar island. The resort comprises 16 villas nestled amid lush tropical gardens, all beautifully appointed and designed to reflect the vibrant spirit of the island paradise.
There are many activities to choose from at the resort. For health and wellness, there are a range of spa treatments and massages, as well as unlimited yoga classes on your private terrace or with other guests in the pavilion. Water-based activities include stand up paddle (SUP) boarding and snorkeling, and guests can explore the island on electric scooters or pedal bicycles.
Today marks the end of your epic Tanzania and Zanzibar safari itinerary featuring 3 ultra-exclusive XO Private certified properties. You will be transferred from your island paradise to the airport in Zanzibar where you will begin your journey home.
