Our finest Cape Winelands accommodation

Our top 3 finest Cape Winelands accommodation picks in the heart of Stellenbosch

Our recent visit to the Cape Winelands proved to be another remarkable day re-discovering all that Stellenbosch has to offer for travellers seeking to explore the true essence of Stellenbosch as well as its fine wines, of course.

Stellenbosch is situated only 31 miles from Cape Town and is the second oldest European settlement in the Western Province. It is the centre of the South African wine industry and welcomes you with beautiful Cape Dutch Architecture, oak trees, and, of course, never-ending vineyards stretching for miles on end.

On our visit to Stellenbosch we fell in love with three incomparable Cape Wineland Hotels which we highly recommend for travellers wanting to stay in the heart of Stellenbosch, while still being able to experience everything the winelands has to offer – from chocolate and wine pairings to mountain biking in the famous Jonkershoek Valley.

Lanzerac Hotel & Spa

Situated on the famous Lanzerac Wine Estate dating back to 1692, the Lanzerac Hotel & Spa is a timeless gem only 5 minutes from the historic town of Stellenbosch. With its recent additions to the property and refurbishments of all rooms, this classic hotel is truly a remarkable experience in the Cape Winelands. The hotel boasts a spa overlooking the Jonkershoek Valley, mountain ranges, endless rows of pristine vineyards, a deli providing you with decadent freshly baked goods daily, and a brand new tasting room, where you can indulge in a world-class chocolate and wine pairing experience.

With 200 hectares of land to explore on the estate, world-acclaimed wines, 3 restaurants and 5-star accommodation there is simply no better place to spend your time in the Cape Winelands. What sets this hotel apart from the rest is its idyllic location away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre, transporting guests to their own private piece of the Winelands.

De Oude Werf Hotel

De Oude Werf Hotel prides itself in being South Africa’s oldest operating hotel. For travellers who love exploring and would like to experience Stellenbosch in true fashion, De Oude Werf Hotel is the perfect place to stay on your Cape Winelands exploration. With only 58 rooms, this hotel is intimate and although it is situated in the heart of Stellenbosch, the property remains somewhat hidden to the outside world. With its prime location and its recent renovations the hotel has become the perfect combination between traditional Stellenbosch architecture and contemporary interiors. Within the hotel you can spend your day at leisure by the swimming pool or indulging in an afternoon high-tea after a long day of exploring. Step outside and you will find yourself on the doorstep of Stellenbosch’s vibrant city center with dozens of restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries, museums and local boutiques to discover.

Majeka House & Spa

This boutique hotel is a hidden gem that is situated in one of Stellenbosch’s most prestigious neighbourhoods, Paradyskloof. Only 5 minutes from the town centre, this property is the perfect retreat after a long day of exploring the Cape Winelands. What we love most about Majeka House is the creativity of their spaces – each one uniquely decorated to compliment the atmosphere and function of the space. With their award winning Makaron restaurant, their extravagantly decorated cocktail lounge and their tranquil spa, Majeka House is designed for travellers who appreciate the finer things in life.
