This Photographic Safari in Zambia has been curated for travelers with a keen interest in wildlife photography. Led by a specialist guide, you will have the opportunity to capture shots of South Luangwa National Park’s pristine wilderness and epic wildlife from the comfort of Kaingo Camp’s network photographic hides and customized photographic safari vehicles. Whether you’re looking to perfect your art or learn a new skill, this itinerary ensures that you’ll return home with a collection of images and memories to cherish forever.
Your safari adventure begins for the photographic safari Zambia on arrival at Lusaka International Airport, where a Ker & Downey® Africa representative will assist you through immigration and customs. Your journey continues as you board a light aircraft flight to the remote corners of South Luangwa National Park – Zambia’s premier game viewing park. On arrival, your dedicated guide will welcome you and accompany you to Kaingo Camp. The exclusive and intimate camp is located on the banks of the meandering Luangwa River under a canopy of ebony trees. The perfect spot for wildlife enthusiasts, Kaingo delivers excellent big game encounters and guarantees an extraordinary safari experience. After check-in, you will embark on an evening game drive and get a taste of what’s in store for your 6 day Photographic Safari. To elevate your photographic safari, you will have your very own private customised photographic vehicle with a Senior Guide on board to ensure you get the perfect shot. Your guide will stop at a viewpoint for you to marvel and get a few shots as the sun sets over this pristine wilderness.
Located on the banks of the Luangwa River, the intimate Kaingo Camp features only six chalets each fitted with an outdoor bathtub and private decks overlooking the river. The camp features a communal lounge, dining area and campfire area where tea and coffee are served in the early morning before you embark on your safari.
Your safari experience begins with an exhilarating afternoon and night game drive through the Kaingo territory in a private customised photographic vehicle. Led by a Senior Guide, you will venture into game-rich areas deep within the park which are not commonly visited by other vehicles.
Wake up and enjoy a warming coffee on the banks of the Luangwa River before embarking on your safari for the day. Kaingo Camp offers three wildlife activities per day, and in between game drives and guided walks you will have the opportunity to work on your photography skills at the camp’s unique network of photographic hides. Each hide highlights a different element of your wildlife experience – Elephant Hide guarantees up close elephant encounters, Hippo Hide overlooks the hippo pods in the Luangwa and Mwamba River, *Carmen Bee-Eater Hide is a haven for birding enthusiasts and the **Wild Dog Lagoon Hide brings you closer to one of Africa’s most endangered mammals.

Located on the banks of the Luangwa River, the intimate Kaingo Camp features only six chalets each fitted with private decks overlooking the river. Guests can enjoy three wildlife activities per day including guided game drives in customised photographic safari vehicles, walking safaris and up close encounters at the camp’s photographic hides. Night drives are also available for photographers who are keen to capture Zambia’s nocturnal wildlife.
Your photographic safari continues with an expertly guided walking safari through Kaingo’s territory. Following your private Senior Guide and armed Zambia Wildlife Authority Scout’s lead, you will track Zambia’s impressive wildlife on foot and visit the park’s vibrant waterholes, tributaries, woodlands and journey through a 3km long Ebony Grove. The birthplace of walking safaris, this experience will bring you closer to Zambia’s smaller creatures and offers some incredible photographic opportunities. You can enjoy a picnic lunch in the great outdoors before returning to the lodge for your afternoon activity. This evening, you have a real adventure in store – a sleepout at the Elephant Hide Star Bed. Built on a platform overlooking the main elephant crossing point, you will have the opportunity to get some great shots as the sun dips below the horizon before falling asleep under the African night sky.
Located at the main elephant crossing point, the Elephant Hide Star Bed is set on a raised platform above the Luangwa River and overlooking Numba plains. The star bed offers an incredible vantage point to capture wildlife that visit the river banks.
Day six marks your final day of your photographic safari in Zambia. Depending on your preference, you can spend the morning at one of the photographic hides, embark on a guided walking safari or venture out into South Luangwa National Park on an exhilarating early morning game drive. After a refreshing breakfast overlooking the Luangwa River, you will be transferred back to Mfuwe Airport for your light aircraft scheduled flight to Lusaka International Airport and onward journey home.
