Saseka Tented Camp is located within the 34,500-acre Thornybush Nature Reserve that shares a fenceless border with the famous Kruger National Park in South Africa. Set along an intimate bend in the seasonal Monwana riverbed, it is considered one of Thornybush’s most luxurious safari camps. Saseka’s notably unique layout achieves a superb balance between contemporary design, classical style, and feeling connected to the outside environment.
Big 5 encounters are a regular experience for guests, with lion and leopard sightings being a particular highlight. It’s the high density and broad diversity of wildlife, however, that makes this lodge a top safari destination. Twice daily game drives in the game-rich reserve are guaranteed to be rewarding with Saseka’s passionate and knowledgeable guide-and-tracker teams leading the way.
The camp comprises nine luxurious tented suites with chic interiors and uninterrupted views of the Monwana riverbed. Each is equipped with its own extensive private deck and pool, outdoor shower and air conditioning. The décor is meticulous, with the fabric of the interior boasting prints from the herbarium in Pretoria of all the region’s plants – designed exclusively for Saseka. Another impressive feature is the intelligent lighting of the tented suites and the clever design that allows for the sounds of nature to filter in to give guests a truly immersive safari experience. The Leadwood Villa can host groups with a central lounge and dining area, shared deck and pool, and private safari vehicle. The main area has a large multi-story deck with an astutely designed roof that mimics the freckled light of a tree canopy. It is the perfect place to have a drink or meal and share stories of the day’s adventures.
