Ker & Downey® Africa > Accommodation > Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge, Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda
Operated by Governors’ Camp Collection, but entirely community owned, Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge actively drives socio-economic and conservation initiatives in the local communities around the Volcanoes National Park. The lodge is located just minutes from the headquarters of the park in a remarkable forested ecosystem, providing the perfect base for guests who want to explore the volcanoes and trek to find the mighty mountain gorillas.
The lodge, nestled on the foothills of the magnificent Virungas, is a mere 3km from the main entrance to the Volcanoes National Park. Dramatic sweeping views of the lush rolling hills and mighty chain of volcanoes can be enjoyed from the lodge when not exploring the forests of this fascinating ecosystem on foot. Sabyinyo offers unforgettable gorilla trekking expeditions to guests who want to meet the endangered mountain gorillas face-to-face, while also having a chance to observe the diverse endemic inhabitants of this fascinating region.
The Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge comprises six solid stone double cottages, two elegant luxury suites, and one larger family suite to accommodate families or small groups. All stone buildings boast traditional Rwandese terracotta roofs, large comfortable lounges, fireplaces and spacious patios from which to enjoy the views of the pristine countryside.
