Ker & Downey® Africa > Accommodation > Lewa Wilderness Lodge, Lewa Conservancy, Kenya
Located on the foothills of Mount Kenya, Lewa Wildlife Conservancy is one of the East African country’s most prolific conservation stories. The 62,000 acre conservancy is a haven and home to a number of endangered animals including the Grevy’s zebra and beautiful black rhino.
Situated within the wildlife conservancy, Lewa Wilderness provides a homely but luxurious experience where customized daily safaris and other activities are all tailored to the needs of the guest. Tracing back to 1924, this exclusive family-owned and run lodge allows guests to contribute directly to the pioneering success of the conservation initiatives as well as community upliftment.
Activities go far beyond game drives and if it’s adventure you’re after, look no further. Scenic flights in a retro yellow WACO bi-plane, camel riding, horseback safaris and fly-camping are amongst some of the experiences you can enjoy at Lewa. The intimate lodge comprises just nine exclusive luxury cottages tucked into the hillside overlooking the pristine Marania Valley. This is a safari lover’s dream located in one of the most special parts of Kenya.
