Set deep in one of East Africa’s most biodiverse regions, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, you will find a collection of conservation-driven guides and naturalists working to protect Uganda’s rarest species: endangered mountain gorilla. Trek deep into the African jungle to come face-to-face with these creatures, among a plethora of other primate species and rich birdlife to contribute to their long-term preservation. In this LuxVenture® Experience, you will land and depart from Entebbe, on the shores of Lake Victoria, stay at an eco-conscious lodge, and participate in the rare opportunity to connect with local Batwa community members.
Your guide will welcome you to Entebbe and assist with your transfer to the Protea Hotel Entebbe, a luxurious hotel ideally situated on the shores of Lake Victoria – one of the African Great Lakes. Spanning over 68,800-square kilometers and holding space in Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania, Lake Victoria is a striking introduction to the “Pearl of Africa”.
Protea Hotel Entebbe offers all of the comforts one could need after long-haul travel: a pool, terrace and bar, spacious rooms, superb views, and a clean, elegant décor complimented by a friendly atmosphere. Enjoy dinner at the hotel’s restaurant where local specialties include Tilapia and Nile Perch, or ask your Adventurist for recommendations for good eats in town.

Wake up early for your flight to Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge in Bwindi National Park, where you will be spending the next two nights. Set at over 2,000-meters above sea level, Uganda’s highest lodge boasts poured concrete floors and distinctly African design. The volcanic rock used to construct this singular lodge is softened by handwoven carpets and thick wooden beams. The lodge was built in partnership between conservation organizations and the Nkuringa community to protect Uganda’s last remaining gorillas.
Each of the eight individual cottages come with a personal butler and provide a welcoming home base from which to explore the many activities available, including bird watching, guided forest walks, and unique engagements with the Batwa community.
Picture the steam rising off of your morning coffee as the morning mist hangs over the peaks of the Virunga Volcanoes in the distance; this is Bwindi National Park. Blanketed by dense treetops, this biodiverse and verdant expanse flanking the Rift Valley is home to a myriad of species, including around half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas.
The day you’ve been waiting for is here. Wake up with the sun and meet your guide for an informative briefing before trekking deep into the jungle in search of endangered mountain gorillas. These sensitive creatures are surprisingly elusive, leaving the path and duration of your trek somewhat up to fate.
With the help of your expert local guide, you will quietly navigate the dense forest watching for bird life and other species as you pick your way through vegetated trails. Eventually, the strenuous trek will pay off when you discover a gorilla family – seemingly out of nowhere, going about their daily routines.
Adult gorillas chew lazily on the surrounding vegetation, amicably gazing at the guests who have traveled from all corners of the globe to see them. Juvenile gorillas tumble and play in the undergrowth, gathering strength and learning important life skills to survive in the jungle. After one hour, leave the habituated family in peace to retrace your steps back to the lodge.
Enjoy a fresh, delicious breakfast at Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge overlooking the mountains and pristine forest below this morning. Take some time to reflect on the once-in-a-lifetime journey you have just experienced before heading to the Bwindi National Park airstrip for your flight back to Entebbe. From Entebbe, connect with your international departure flight home.
