Situated in the heart of Cape Town, Cape Cadogan Boutique Hotel is a short stroll from the vibey Kloof Street – a popular attraction with an eclectic mix of street cafes, galleries, bars, shops and top restaurants. Its central location is also a stone’s throw from Kloof Nek road, which is the access road to the world famous Table Mountain.

Guests traveling with Ker & Downey® Africa can arrive either by hired vehicle or luxury transfer. Upon arrival, you feel immediately transported into a world of old style elegance embodied by the colonial architecture. The staff will come to meet you personally with friendly, warm smiles and escort you into a charming lounge with a wood-burning fireplace. Here you are invited to help yourself to a welcome drink and a slice of homemade cake.

Check-in is seamless in the trendy reception area and you are made to feel immediately at home.

Before checking in, the concierge will show you around the hotel. You will be provided with informative information about where to go in Cape Town and what there is to discover, while our luggage is whisked away and delivered to your room.  We were also invited to join the honesty bar and enjoy delicious canapes, which are served at 6pm everyday in the lounge area.

Our luxury room was light and airy with a large terrace, complete with a view of Table Mountain and Kloof Street. The bathroom is very spacious with a modern concrete bath, double shower and fragrant Africology toiletries.

There was a handwritten note on the bed from the hotel’s management, welcoming us and telling us to enjoy our stay. Personalized touches like this really make a guest feel special. I really like the fact that there are a few different room types to suit different requirements. These include a classic room, luxury suite, and superior luxury suite which has a private plunge pool. All 15 options in the hotel are comfortable, modern and elegant.

I was very impressed with the turn down service at the end of the day to ensure that our room was prepared for a good night’s sleep.

Facilities at Cape Cadogan

Although there is not a gym on site, there is a large well known brand gym just around the corner for you to attend. The hotel will arrange this for you, as well as provide return transfers for you should you want them. There is a sparkling plunge pool onsite which is set in a sunny courtyard with lush indigenous plants. This is a great place to relax on a warm day, before or after enjoying the sights of the Mother City.

The hotel breakfast is highly recommended. Guests can enjoy a wide selection of delicious fresh pastries, yoghurts, a large variety of fruit and other unique items like fresh honeycomb. There is also the option of a hot breakfast with a host of delectable menu items on offer. The view from the breakfast room overlooks the enchanting outdoor dining area and swimming pool – ideal for an al fresco breakfast experience in the warmer months.

Room service is also available between 12h00 and 21h00.

Next to the reception is a library area with books in all different languages – a very thoughtful touch for any traveler to while away their time relaxing with a good book around the swimming pool or on their room patio.

Overall feedback

Cape Cadogan Boutique Hotel is a fantastic choice for travelers who are looking to spend some time enjoying Cape Town either before or after a safari. A highlight for me is the top class service and warmth of the staff. There has been a lot of similar feedback in reviews I have read on the property, and it was great to experience it first hand.

The hotel is an intimate space recommended for either honeymooners or guests who want to stay in a historical building while being centrally located.
