How many years have your worked in the industry
After living abroad for 6 years, Julie returned to South Africa and worked professionally as a travel writer for 5 years before moving into her current role in the marketing department.
Highlight of Julie’s time in the company
Starting her position at Ker & Downey® Africa in March 2020 amidst the global pandemic which presented itself with unexpected challenges. Her strengths lie in remaining positive, displaying resilience and applying her diverse skills to tackle any project she is presented with.
Julie’s favorite destination in Africa
Julie has traveled to Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Angola, Lesotho, Mozambique, Swaziland and Egypt. She has also done extensive travel within South Africa. “Traveling to places that reveal different cultures and ways of life is extremely important. It enables us to see how other people live and experience life and there is so much to learn from that. It puts so many things into perspective and allows us to see just how connected we really are.”
One destination that has been particularly life-changing for Julie has been Botswana. “There is something in the air in that country, a wildness that really makes you feel the heartbeat of Africa. Whether exploring the wild bushveld, the ever-changing river channels of the Okavango Delta, or the vast desert landscapes, one will be exposed to safari excellence of the most magical quality.”
