A true African wilderness awaits you in Zimbabwe, one of the continent’s most sought-after safari destinations. This 10-day trip allows you to explore three iconic destinations in Zimbabwe. Begin your journey in the north, on the southern banks of the Zambezi River in the vast Mana Pools National Park – a place of pure wilderness and beauty. This area is ideally suited for walking safaris and canoeing expeditions. Among the many species of wildlife found within this World Heritage Site are hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and an impressive diversity of birds. Next up the journey takes you to Hwange National Park, tucked away in the northwest corner of the country. Hwange boasts a large array of wildlife and is home to one of the world’s largest elephant populations. Last, but not least, you will venture to view one of the seven Natural Wonders of the World, Victoria Falls, one of Africa’s greatest and most visited attractions.
Are you ready?
The safari portion of your itinerary begins at Victoria Falls International Airport, where you will board a light aircraft for a scenic 2-hour flight to Mana Pools airport. From the local airstrip, it’s a short drive to Nyamatusi Camp. The luxurious Nyamatusi Camp offers walking safaris, game drives and guided canoe trips on the Zambezi River. There is nothing better than having the option to enjoy both land- and water-based safari activities. In the evenings, select a bottle of award-winning wine from the sunken cellar to enjoy during a leisurely dinner in the boma, which is bound to be a highlight. It is here that you can experience a truly authentic safari in untouched parts of Zimbabwe with the backdrop of breathtaking sunrises and sunsets.
Designed with all natural materials and powered by solar energy, Nyamatusi camp combines eco-consciousness with utmost luxury. Featuring 6 opulent air-conditioned tents, indoor and outdoor showers, a private plunge pool with a view of the Zambezi River, this camp offers the ultimate in safari comfort.
Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives and walking safaris in the bush, or opt to canoe along the tranquil waters down the lower Zambezi river with an experienced guide. Fishing (catch and release shore fishing) along the banks of the river and bird watching is also a highly recommended activity in the area.
After a delicious breakfast at the lodge you will be accompanied to Mana Pools local airstrip for your light aircraft flight to Hwange National Park Airport. A Ker & Downey® Africa representative will meet and assist you with a transfer to the multi-award winning Somalisa Camp. This tented camp is leading the way in eco-friendly safari accommodation and has been awarded the first GOLD Green Tourism Certification in Zimbabwe. The area is abundant with wildlife as it is along the edge of an ancient seasonal floodplain and has breathtaking views over the golden savannah plains. Somalisa is the perfect combination of comfort and wilderness, with private decks surrounding plunge pools from which you can view elephants drinking at nearby waterholes. Here, the emphasis is on discovering the natural beauty of Hwange and all it has to offer.
Somalisa Camp is located on a private concession in the heart of Hwange National Park and boasts 7 luxurious sail tents. Each well-appointed tent has a glass wood burning fireplace for the cold winter nights, and fans for the hot summer days. There are also indoor and outdoor showers, as well as a freestanding copper bathtub in each tent.
There are a number of safari experiences available at the camp which include guided morning and afternoon game drives, walking safaris and bird watching. Cultural visits and night safaris are also on offer for those wanting something unique. All tents face a watering hole, which means you can enjoy exciting game sightings from the comfort of your private deck.
After a gourmet breakfast at camp, you will be transferred back to Hwange Airport for your flight to Victoria Falls Airport. Upon touch down, a representative from Victoria Falls River Lodge will greet you and transfer you directly to the lodge. This 5-star luxury lodge is situated close to the mighty Victoria Falls, with easy access to both the Falls and the town (where many excursions and activities begin). After a seamless check-in at the lodge, you can explore the many facilities and amenities. There are just too many to feature but some highlights are the game viewing hide, in-house massages, and high tea. You are sure to have a taste adventure from Chef Dean in the kitchen, who serves al fresco style lunches and fine dining evening meals.
Victoria Falls River Lodge is situated close to the Falls, with easy access to both the Falls and Victoria Falls town. All luxurious tented suites have air conditioning and feature private decks and plunge pools. Enjoy uninterrupted views of hippos or elephants at the river from the sitting area in your tent.
Morning and afternoon 4×4 drives for game spotting in the 150, 000 acres Zambezi National Park. Join in on Mother Nature’s happiest hour with a sunrise and sunset river cruise on the Zambezi River. A truly unforgettable guided tour of the Falls is also included, where you can experience this Natural Wonder of the World first hand.
Day ten marks the final day of your Zimbabwe Victoria Falls safari. Partake in a sunrise game drive, followed by breakfast at the lodge. Following this, you will be transferred from Victoria Falls River Lodge to Victoria Falls Airport for your scheduled flight home.

Victoria Falls is located on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia in Southern Africa and a visit to this spectacular natural wonder is often combined with a luxury Zimbabwe safari. The mighty Zambezi River, which forms the boundary between Zimbabwe and Zambia, plunges over a wide gorge, creating one of the world’s longest and most spectacular falls.
March to June is considered the best time to view Victoria Falls, as it is at its fullest with massive water flow, dramatic spray, and a thunderous sound as the water tumbles over the gorge. However, the intense spray limits visibility, so during these months, the falls are best viewed from afar.
For those seeking a close-up experience, the best time is from July to September, when the water flow is lower and the spray is less intense, making it easier to see the entire face of the falls. Additionally, wildlife viewing is at its peak in the nearby national parks.
October to December is ideal for thrill-seekers. During the low-water season, you can enjoy activities like white-water rafting and swimming at the edge of the falls in the aptly named Devil’s Pool. However, the falls may not look as impressive, as parts dry up, especially on the Zambian side.
Our luxury safari specialists can advise on the best time to visit Victoria Falls based on your desired experience.
Yes, Victoria Falls Town and nearby Livingstone can both be visited.
Victoria Falls Town is known as a hub for adventure activities, such as bungee jumping, white-water rafting, and helicopter flights, which offer sweeping views of the falls and the surrounding landscape.
