The birthplace of wilderness safaris, Kenya is renowned for its abundant wildlife, colorful culture, and pristine natural beauty. This 8 day Luxury Kenya Safari invites you to discover two safari meccas, Lake Nakuru and the Masai Mara, and witness landscapes alive with activity from thousands of flamingos nesting along the shores of Lake Nakuru to mega herds of wildebeest stampeding through the Mara. Whether you are a bird lover, wildlife photographer, first-time visitor or seasoned safari-goer, this trip promises a wildlife experience that exceeds expectations.
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, a Ker & Downey® Africa representative will welcome you and transfer you to The Palacina. A peaceful retreat in the bustling city of Nairobi, The Palacina is the perfect launch pad for your Kenya safari experience. Check in to your suite and enjoy downtime at the indoor or outdoor swimming pool, or unwind after your flight with a luxurious spa treatment. Alternatively, you can venture further afield to visit the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and Karen Blixen Museum. In the evening, enjoy a drink at the Palacina Bar followed by dinner at the Bistro or head into town for dinner at one of the nearby restaurants.
The first leg of your luxury Kenya safari begins as your dedicated guide meets you and transfers you through the Great Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park. You will check in to The Cliff, an exclusive luxury camp perched on a rugged clifftop. The camp’s tented suites boast 180-degree views of Lake Nakuru – a unique soda lake in the park and feeding ground to thousands of flamingos. Balance your mind, body and soul with morning yoga and stretching sessions and rejuvenating spa treatments, or make your way to the gym pavilion to get your blood pumping before heading out on morning and evening game drives in search of the rare Rothschild giraffe, leopard, lion, buffalo and rhino. A highlight of your safari experience will be visiting the iconic ‘Pride Rock’ and an excursion further afield to the towering red cliffs of Hell’s Gate National Park.
After a refreshing breakfast overlooking the shimmering waters of Lake Nakuru, your dedicated guide will meet you and transfer you to the Masai Mara Game Reserve. The scenic drive takes nearly five hours with stops en route. This wildlife mecca is renowned for the annual Great Wildebeest Migration and promises epic year-round game viewing. Your base in the Mara, the luxurious Sand River Masai Mara, is located on the banks of the Sand River and reflects the glamour of a 1920s safari camp with a modern ‘low impact’ philosophy. Discover the Mara on expertly guided game drives or witness the mega herds of wildebeest make their way across the Sand River from the comfort of your luxury tent.
Located on the banks of the Sand River, this exclusive tented camp offers guests a luxurious stay with front row seats to the annual Great Wildebeest Migration. The property features 17 tented suites split between two separate camps each with its own dining and communal areas to maximise privacy.
Discover the Masai Mara on daily 4×4 safari game drives in search of epic wildlife or relax on your private deck and let the herds of wildebeest come to you. During your stay you will have the opportunity to visit a local village and school, and hot air balloon safaris can be pre-booked on request.
Wake up and enjoy a refreshing breakfast in the Masai Mara, before your guide transfers you to the nearby airstrip for your short-haul flight to Wilson Airport and onward journey home.
We recommend extending your stay to include one of Kenya’s popular beach destinations for the ultimate bush and beach experience.

Kenya is home to several famous national parks. These include:
The iconic Maasai Mara is located in south west Kenya and is considered one of Africa’s greatest wildlife reserves with breathtaking landscapes and some of the continent’s most majestic animals, including the Big 5. The reserve boasts more than 95 species of animals and over 570 bird species, making it a must for wildlife enthusiasts. A highlight of the reserve is the annual Wildebeest Migration, with the herds passing through the reserve from July to October.
Amboseli National Park is situated in the southern region of Kenya and is renowned for its large African elephant herds. The park also offers visitors thrilling close-up encounters with free-roaming Big 5 species, including black rhinos and cheetahs. Its diverse ecosystems and abundant wildlife make it a must-visit destination for a true African safari experience.
Nairobi National Park is famous for being the world’s only wildlife reserve located just outside a capital city, offering visitors the opportunity to see lions, giraffes, and rhinos with Nairobi’s striking city skyline in the background. The park is known for its conservation efforts, particularly with the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and its rhino sanctuary, making it a must-visit for those interested in both wildlife and conservation.
Meru National Park is a stunning unspoilt park known for its diverse ecosystems, rugged landscapes that range from dense forests to open savannah, and for being home to the famous Elsa the lioness of Born Free, whose legacy lives on at the park. Meru National Park is also known for its rare wildlife, including the endangered Grevy’s zebra and bongo antelope.
Lake Nakuru is a wildlife haven, known for its vast population of brightly colored pink flamingos that live along its shores. The lake sits at the foot of the Great Rift Valley and is surrounded by bushy grassland that is a sanctuary to an incredible variety of wildlife, including rare black and white rhinos.
Samburu National Reserve is considered a premier wildlife sanctuary in East Africa. The reserve sits on the banks of the picturesque Ewas Ng’iro river and is famous for its abundance of rare species, including Somali ostrich and Grevy zebras. African wild dog sightings are also a popular occurrence as are elephants, with the reserve home to a robust population of around 900.
Kenya’s lesser-known parks like Shimba Hills, Chyulu Hills National Park, Aberdare, and Ruma also offer unique wildlife, stunning landscapes, and a peaceful, crowd-free experience. The best time to visit the Masai Mara National Reserve is during the Great Wildebeest Migration, which typically occurs from July to October. This is when millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles cross the Mara River, offering dramatic wildlife sightings.
For year-round wildlife viewing, June to October is ideal, as it’s the dry season, making it easier to spot animals concentrated around waterholes.
November to May is the rainy season, but still offers great game viewing with fewer crowds.
