Are you ready?
Your South Africa walking safari adventure begins on arrival at Cape Town International Airport. Here, a Ker & Downey® Africa representative will welcome you and transfer you to the One&Only Cape Town, perfectly situated in the esteemed Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. A stay here offers the ideal opportunity to discover the very best that the Mother City has to offer while enjoying ultra-luxurious, contemporary accommodation in the exclusive Marina Harbour King Room. A full day Table Mountain and Cape Town City tour are also included during your stay.
One&Only Cape Town is one of the most dynamic luxury resorts in South Africa. The newly refurbished Harbour King Room offers excellent views of Cape Town’s waterfront harbour from a large private balcony. This room comes with an ensuite bathroom with egg-shaped bath, rain shower, private water closet and dual marble vanities.
When you’re not exploring the dazzling city, the resort offers top-notch experiences in the form of a spectacular infinity pool, revitalizing spa treatments and fitness classes, a KidsOnly club so the young ones will stay engaged, and world-class restaurants, bars and a wine studio that will have you indulging in phenomenal cuisine and diverse drinks.
After a final glorious morning at the One&Only Cape Town, your driver will meet you and transfer you to Lekkerwater Beach Lodge in the pristine De Hoop Nature Reserve – a scenic three hour drive from Cape Town. Lekkerwater Beach Lodge is often referred to as the “jewel of the Western Cape” and for good reason. The resort occupies a desirable location atop the historic dunes of De Hoop, sandwiched between land and sea. This amazing coastal reserve is particularly well-known for providing some of the best land-based whale watching in the entire world. The emphasis at Lekkerwater is on an extraordinary nature-based experience, while also offering a comfortable beach safari experience in a truly magical setting. The area has a rich history, incredible wildlife and flora, pristine beaches, rolling hills, and an abundance of sea life.
The stunning views are meant to be the star of the show at the resort, and each accommodation option boasts extraordinary views of the Indian Ocean. The rooms are luxuriously furnished, warm and inviting, drawing inspiration from the reserve’s natural beauty. All rooms comprise en suite open plan bathrooms with indoor showers.
Lekkerwater Beach Lodge offers a plethora of memorable experiences. Watch whales from the land, enjoy daily nature walks, indulge in a private beach picnic, or romantic sundowners from atop one of the dunes and discover the rich paleontological history of the coastline. The lodge also has a swimming pool, great for those hot summer days.
After a hearty breakfast at Lekkerwater Beach Lodge, you will begin your picturesque walk to the Morukuru Beach Lodge, also located in the De Hoop Nature Reserve (your luggage will be transported ahead of you). This leisurely self-guided 6.5-8 hour coastal walk encompasses the most spectacular section of the incredible Whale Trail. Beautiful sandy beaches and limestone rock platforms mark the beginning of the first section of the walk, and at low tide it is possible to enter the water off the rock platforms to explore the rock pools in search of the sea life clinging to the rocks. Further along the trail you can expect endless Indian Ocean views, and breathtaking hills, gorges, caves, and ravines. Quiet beaches make up the landscape during most of the route and large lowland fynbos can be found further inland from the coast. Finally you will arrive at Morukuru Beach Lodge, where luxury awaits.
The De Hoop Nature Reserve’s Morukuru Beach Lodge is a five-suite premium eco-lodge. Large floor to ceiling glass doors with breathtaking ocean views are found in the spacious Ocean View Suite. Along with a fireplace, the room also features indoor and outdoor lounging spaces. The roomy ensuite bathroom features a double vanity, a separate bath, and a shower.
Enjoy exploring the coastline around Morukuru and indulge in various activities such as guided nature and tidal walks to experience the rich diversity of sea life. Enjoy a special evening dining at the lodge while thinking back on your day’s adventures. You will only completely appreciate your recent journey when you look back on it.
After a delicious breakfast at Morukuru, you will be transferred by private helicopter to the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. From there, you will meet your driver who will transfer you to Franschhoek by road. Here, you will enjoy a full day Winelands tour before being dropped off at Mont Rochelle Hotel & Vineyard. Located in a hamlet of Franschhoek, just under an hour’s drive from Cape Town, sits Month Rochelle, a luxurious 26-room hotel and winery. A getaway to this charming region of South Africa at the base of the Klein Dassenberg Mountain Range ensures rest and a fantastic gastronomic experience along with some exceptional wines. The grounds at Mont Rochelle cover about 100 acres and are just begging to be explored.
The Merlot Rooms can be found in the garden wing and Manor House wing of the hotel and all boast king-sized beds. Expect flat screen TVs, portable speakers for streaming music, tea and coffee facilities, laundry bags, safety deposit boxes, hairdryers, plug adaptors, and underfloor heating in the bathrooms, in addition to amenities from Africology.
Having a picnic on the property is a favorite pastime for many visitors. A well-stocked picnic basket and one or two cold bottles of wine can be arranged by the kitchen. There are two dining options, a cozy bar, a spa, a fitness center, and an outdoor heated pool. Not to mention the 91 acre vineyard, of course.
After breakfast on your last morning at Mont Rochelle Hotel & Vineyard, your driver will meet you and accompany you to Cape Town International Airport for your scheduled 2.5 hour flight to Skukuza Airport in the Kruger National Park. From here, a Ker & Downey® Africa representative will welcome you with a smile and transfer you to Lion Sands Narina Lodge in the Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve – a short road transfer from the airport. Lion Sands Narina Lodge exudes a beautiful sense of seclusion and tranquility. Its nine opulent suites are perched on stilts among 100-year-old trees just above the Sabie River, and elevated pathways connect them to a spa and cozy lodge. The open layout and natural decor of the common space are accentuated by the fully furnished decks. With approximately 123,000 acres of wilderness within a private concession, this luxury lodge is the perfect base from which to explore off-road, track leopards, follow a herd of elephants or simply wait for them to come to you.
All suites are designed to provide complete solitude in a wilderness setting where you can observe the wildlife move toward the river from your pool and deck as well as your bed and bathroom. A stunning canopy bed, beyond comfortable couches, an egg bath, and a personal bar all add to the pleasure of being in Africa.
While staying at Narina Lodge, you can enjoy twice-daily game drives in search of wildlife as well as thrilling guided walking safaris with a knowledgeable guide and tracker team who will make your bush experience even more memorable. Once back at the lodge, treat yourself to an on-site massage or indulge in the finest cuisine.
Day fifteen marks the end of your epic South Africa walking safari adventure that encompasses the city, coastline and bush. You will be transferred to Skukuza Airport after a revitalizing breakfast at Lion Sands Narina Lodge, where you can connect with your flight home.
