Ker & Downey® Africa > Trips > Safari in Botswana
It’s time to push the limits of the traditional safari. In a trip built for connoisseurs of adventure, we’ve covered all the bases whilst delivering the very best of Botswana.
Enjoy the Okavango Delta on foot, by traditional canoe (mokoro).. This LuxVenture® Trip begins in a private concession in the Okavango Delta before heading east to Chobe National Park, where endless herds of elephant gather to create a game-viewing spectacle scarcely attainable elsewhere.
On this LuxVenture® Trip you will be challenged as you explore the Okavango Delta and Savuti regions of Botswana on-foot with your own private armed ranger. You will have a chance to connect with the team behind the camps and even take part in a local soccer match. You will be able to leave your own legacy by contributing your time or money to a local school.
The world’s largest inland delta is the lifeblood of this region, drawing a plethora owater-adapted species to its lush floodplains. Seasoned travellers from across the globe tout this as one of Africa’s most spectacular features, but few get a birds’ eye view.
For 3 nights you will get a chance to explore the interwoven network of established riverine passageways and lattice of smaller trails carved by the force of nature and the tracks of elephants and hippos.
From the air, by boat, on foot or by 4×4 (on and off-road), you will get the opportunity to view elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dogs, hyena, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, kudu, red letchwe, impala, honey badgers, hippos, crocodiles and much more.
Back at camp, the canopies of giant Marulas, Sycamore figs, and Jackalberry trees cast a welcomed shade over the lodge’s elegant common areas. A decked walkway lures guests toward the swimming pool, which overlooks the surrounding floodplains. Kadizora is situated between the Vumbura River and the Selinda Spillway in the remote northern reaches of the delta.
Chobe National Park is a thriving metropolis for mega-fauna, acting as a mecca for large herds of elephant that congregate around the park’s sparse waterholes. Heading east from the Okavango Delta, the environment changes; by now the earth has soaked up much of the delta’s life-giving water and vast tracks of land unfurl into a wide spaciousness that welcomes herds, and the predators that skulk closely on their trail.
Hills known as Gobabis caused by geological disturbances from volcanic activity jut out of the ground, offering excellent vantage points to take in the sweeping views over an evening sundowner.
The Savuti grasslands offer some of the best game viewing in Africa with rare species like wild dog and sable antelope occurring frequently, but Chobe is also famous for its birds. Tall Secretary Birds and Kori bustards can be found here, as well as vibrant Carmine Bee Eaters and elegant fish eagles.
You will have a good chance of seeing elephant, buffalo, hippo, crocodiles, lions, leopards and wild dog during your 3 night stay at Ghoha Hills Savute Lodge.
Ghoha Hills is also light on impact being solely powered by solar power. Ask your Adventurist to take a tour behind-the-scenes to get a better feel for what it takes to operate a lodge in the middle of the bush.
Wake up early to enjoy one last game drive in the misty coolth of the morning. Your safari has touched on some of Botswana’s most quintessential features, and better yet, you’ve seen it from a higher perspective.
Once you’ve packed your bags, you will head to Kasane Airport for your international departure flight home.
