Ker & Downey® Africa > Trips > 9 day Luxury Safari in Botswana
A biodiversity hotspot, Botswana is blessed with some of Africa’s most beautiful reserves and an exceptional array of wildlife. This itinerary invites you to explore some of the country’s most remote regions from the comfort of exclusive luxury lodges for the ultimate intimate safari experience. Discover the world’s largest elephant population in Chobe National Park, witness Botswana’s nocturnal beasts on expertly guided night safaris, glide through the winding in a traditional mokoro, and fall asleep under the stars in your very own starbed in the heart of the Okavango Delta.
Your Luxury Safari in Botswana begins on arrival at Kasane International Airport where a Ker & Downey® Africa representative will welcome you and assist you to your onward flight to the Savute Channel on the western border of Chobe National Park. You will be met at the airstrip by a lodge representative who will transfer you to the luxurious Ghoha Hills Savuti Lodge. A leader in sustainability, this eco-sensitive lodge boasts 180-degree views across the savannah and a natural waterhole, offering discerning travelers a first-class safari experience in the heart of big game country. Discover Chobe’s wilderness on exhilarating 4×4 safari game drives alongside expert guides and trackers. You will have plenty of photo opportunities, as well as a delicious bush picnic lunch and afternoon refreshments by an active water pan, or simply enjoy game-viewing from the lodge.
Located on the ledges of Ghoha Hills, Ghoha Hills Savuti Lodge offers eleven elevated tented suites each fitted with a private deck overlooking the Savuti Plains. The lodge features an open dining area, bar, pool, gym and spa, as well as intimate lounges with views of an active waterhole.
Your Luxury Safari in Botswana continues as you depart Ghoha Hills and board your light aircraft flight to Moremi Game Reserve – the oldest protected section of the Okavango Delta. On arrival, you will be met by a lodge representative who will accompany you to Khwai River Lodge, a Belmond Safari. Located deep in Botswana’s wilderness, this luxury tented bush camp sits on the edge of a forest and overlooks the Khwai River and floodplains of the Delta. Explore this predator-rich haven on morning and afternoon game drives alongside locally trained naturalist guides before returning to the lodge where you can while away your afternoon from the comfort of the swimming pool. In the evenings, dinner is followed by a unique night drive and stargazing. A whole experience on its own, you will head out into the wilderness to seek out the nocturnal creatures of the bush. A spotlight is attached to the safari vehicle and an animal-friendly red filter light is used to spot the eyes of shy wildlife that are hiding in the dark.
Khwai River Lodge is superbly positioned on the edge of a forest and overlooks the Khwai River and floodplains of the Delta. The lodge consists of 14 thatched tents raised on wooden platforms each fitted with a private deck and heated plunge pool. Guests can also enjoy the lodge’s lounge and dining area, library, and an impressive 20-meter pool.
Explore Moremi Game Reserve on daily game drives with complimentary Zeiss binoculars or explore the area on foot on a guided walking safari. In the evenings, you will head out into the wilderness on a night game drive to seek out the nocturnal creatures of the bush followed by a stargazing experience.
After a morning game drive and refreshing breakfast, your guide will meet you and transfer you to the local airstrip for your charter flight to the Okavango Delta. The last three nights of your trip will be spent in the heart of the Okavango Delta staying in the utmost luxury at Sanctuary Baines’ Camp. The intimate camp is built on raised platforms high above the Boro River. During your stay, you can enjoy expertly guided day and night game drives and walking safaris. Alternatively, you can explore the Delta’s waterways on seasonal mokoro safaris and motorised boat excursions to witness wildlife grazing on banks of the winding channels. In the evening, return to the lodge for a spectacular dining experience followed by a bubble bath on your private deck overlooking the river. A highlight of your stay will be wheeling your four-poster bed onto your private deck for the chance to sleep under the stars in Botswana’s peaceful wilderness. Another highlight of your stay at Baines’ Camp is a scenic helicopter flight designed to showcase the permanent delta.
Today marks the end of your Luxury Safari in Botswana. After breakfast, your guide will transfer you to the airstrip for your light aircraft flight to Maun Airport and onward journey home.
