Ker & Downey® Africa > Trips > Luxury Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda
Your luxury gorilla trekking experience starts off with a big five safari in Zambia followed by three days in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park. Home to the famous Victoria Falls (a UNESCO World Heritage site) and the second-largest wildebeest migration in Africa, Zambia is fast becoming one of the most sought-after safari destinations in Africa. Discover three thriving safari destinations in Zambia namely, Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, Liuwa Plain National Park and South Luangwa National Park and witness the largest waterfall in the world. During your trip you will embark on guided game drives, walking safaris and canoeing safaris by day, while settling into world-class luxury at night. The second leg of your journey continues with luxury gorilla trekking in Rwanda from your home base, Bisate Lodge, as featured in the Condé Nast Traveler 2018 Hot List. Home to the last living population of mountain gorillas, Rwanda is the gateway to luxury gorilla trekking in Africa and a bucket list adventure not to miss.
Your luxury gorilla trekking adventure starts on arrival in Zambia’s Livingstone Airport. A Ker & Downey® Africa representative will meet you for a road transfer to Thorntree River Lodge located in Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park. Just a short distance from Victoria Falls, use the next two days to tour the UNESCO World Heritage site, explore the park on daily game drives, track rhino on guided walking safaris and visit a cultural village. End off your days with a sunset river cruise on the Zambezi River and an excellently prepared fine-dining experience on the floating river-deck.
After an early breakfast, prepare for your transfer to your next destination – Liuwa Plain National Park. You will catch the 07h30 flight to Kalabo departing from Livingstone Airport with an estimated arrival time of 09h15. A Ker & Downey® Africa representative will meet you on arrival and transfer you to King Lewanika Lodge. As the first permanent luxury lodge in the park, King Lewanika Lodge boasts world-class architecture and design as well as award-winning safari guides. The highlights of your stay will be witnessing Africa’s second-largest wildebeest migration which occurs in Liuwa Plain National Park and a luxury sleep out under the stars (an optional activity). Spend the next three days on walking safaris, game drives, canoeing safaris, guided wildflower walks, and scenic helicopter flights. Use your time in Zambia to become acquainted with the majestic big 5 and prepare yourself for your introduction to another one of Africa’s great species – en endangered mountain gorilla of East Africa.
Your journey continues in South Luangwa National Park, a destination famous for its unrivaled walking safaris. This morning, you will catch a 09h35am flight from Kalabo flying via Livingstone and Lusaka to reach your final destination, Mafuwe Airstrip. On arrival, a lodge representative from Chinzombo will welcome you to the park and transfer you to your luxury villa. For relaxation, request an in-house spa treatment or enjoy the panoramic views of the abundant wildlife that frequents the river bank.
