Our 8 day Botswana and Victoria Falls Horseback Safari takes you on a journey to two iconic wildlife destinations in Southern Africa – Botswana and Zambia. Starting in northern Botswana, you will make your way into the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Okavango Delta. This unmatched region is the world’s largest inland delta and the winding waterways, lagoons and floodplains are home to an array of wildlife including the Big 5. With the iconic Belmond Eagle Island Lodge as your home base, you will have direct access to the Delta and explore its unique landscape on sunset cruises, mokoro safaris as well as an exclusive helicopter and horseback safari. Next up, you will venture further into the Okavango region to Moremi Game Reserve. Your charter flight will take you Sanctuary Chief’s Camp overlooking the Piajio floodplains. Enjoy daily game drives and the opportunity for a scenic helicopter flight over the Delta. Lastly, you will board a charter flight to Kasane Airport for your onward journey to Royal Chundu Zambezi Island Lodge, located on the banks of the Zambezi River in Zambia. Explore the surrounding region on sunset cruises and canoe safaris as well as daily tours of one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, Victoria Falls.
Your 8 day Botswana and Vic Falls horseback safari begins on your arrival at Maun International Airport, where you will board a charter flight into the heart of the Okavango Delta. Admire the flood plains of this UNESCO World Heritage Site below as you make your way to Belmond Eagle Island Lodge, a mere 20 minutes away. The luxury lodge is located on a private island within the wetlands, featuring 12 high-ceiling tented rooms each fitted with a private plunge pool and deck with views of the Delta. After a seamless check-in, you will have time to unpack before afternoon tea at the main lodge overlooking the surrounding active floodplains. As the sun sets on your first day in Africa, delve deep into the Okavango landscape on a barge cruise down the Delta. Spot wildlife drinking from the banks and pods of hippos in the water below as you sip on your drink of choice at sunset. Return to Eagle Island Lodge for a barbeque beneath the stars.
Rise with the sun and enjoy a light breakfast on your private terrace before a unique helicopter and horseback safari. Your aerial safari starts with a 10-minute private helicopter flight over the remote lakes and islands of the Delta, giving you a bird’s eye view of the abundance of wildlife inhabiting the area. Your pilot will touch down at a specific location in the shallow wetlands for the start of your horseback safari. Whether you’re a novice or a pro, saddle up and follow your expert guide on the 4×4 tracks, into the undiscovered plains of the Delta in search of wild dog, elephant, hippo and zebra in their natural habitat. This horseback safari invites you to savour the Delta’s renowned landscape and experience an African safari from unique a vantage point.After your adventurous morning, your guide will set out light snacks, tea and coffee in the wilderness before returning to Eagle Island Lodge via helicopter. After a hearty lunch, you can choose to explore the Delta at a slower pace on a guided walking safari or glide through the papyrus grass and water lilies on a traditional Mokoro Canoe Safari. Return to the lodge for a sunset drink at the open-air Fish-Eagle Bar before dinner at the main lodge.
Wake up and enjoy a refreshing breakfast at Eagle Island Lodge. After check-out, you will be accompanied to the lodge’s airstrip for your charter flight to Sanctuary Chief’s Camp in the Okavango Delta region. Located on Chief’s Island in Moremi Game Reserve, this eco-friendly camp features 12 secluded Bush Pavilions, each with a private terrace and plunge pool overlooking the Piajio floodplains of the reserve. After a simple check-in, you can choose to unwind at the spa, tuck into a book at the library or rejuvenate at the lodge’s gym before an afternoon tea at the main pavilion served with a selection of cakes, scones and quiche. Next up, join your expert ranger on an exclusive game drive through the Moremi Game Reserve in a 4×4 safari vehicle. Your ranger will share his wealth of knowledge on the roaming lions, wild dog, leopards, hyena as well as the rare white rhino that call the reserve home. Your expert guide will stop in a location of choice for you to enjoy a classic sundowner and canapés before returning to the camp for pre-dinner drinks in the boma. Enjoy a 3-course dinner at the main camp or request a private dinner at your bush pavilion.

Wake up to the smell of freshly brewed coffee as your dedicated tent attendant delivers your morning drink of choice to your room. When you’re ready, head to the main pavilion for a full English and continental breakfast before heading out into the labyrinth of the Delta on a Mokoro excursion. As your guide polls through the byways, spot elephant as well as hippo and crocodile wading through the water. When you return to the lodge, a buffet lunch will be served under the trees on the main deck. Enjoy some well-earned downtime at camp or take to the sky on a *scenic helicopter flight over the delta – the perfect opportunity to capture a shot from above of this renowned landscape.

Wake up for your final breakfast in the Okavango Delta. Today, you will board a charter flight to Kasane Airport where a lodge representative will be waiting to accompany you to Royal Chundu Zambezi Island Lodge. Located on Katombora Island, the exclusive lodge features 4 private suites on the banks of the Katombora rapids with a communal lounge, dining and pool area. Promising utmost privacy, the lodge owns 15km worth of private river space and each luxury suites lays hidden in its natural surroundings. The suites boast a private deck with an outdoor bathtub overlooking the river, a perfect spot to unwind after an exhilarating day on the Zambezi River. After check-in, you will have time to unpack before exploring the Zambezi River on a sunset cruise. Enjoy an array of snack and drinks on board as crocodiles slip off the banks of the river, elephants bathe in the shallows and hippos bob over and under the surface. Return to Royal Chundu Island Lodge for a pan-African and internationally inspired dinner paired with celebrated South African wines.
Day 7 invites you to explore your surroundings according to your mood. Follow your guide on a leisurely paddle down the river to the lodge’s private picnic spot or witness one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World on a tour of Victoria Falls. Pull on your walking shoes and discover Katombora Island on a guided walk where your experienced guide will share their knowledge of traditional medicinal uses of flora found on the island. If you are up for a bit more adventure, you can choose to spend your day on a white water rafting experience, soar above the Falls in a micro-light or view the Falls upside down on a 111m bungee jump off Victoria Falls bridge. Alternatively, you can discover the Zambezi region on a half-day or full day horse riding trail which takes you from teak forests and mopane woodlands to the famous Victoria Falls. Return to the lodge and delight in a private dining experience set out on your deck as the river passes gently below.
Wake up and make your way to the main dining area for a filling breakfast on the banks of the Zambezi. Day 8 marks the final day of your Botswana + Vic Falls horseback safari. After a seamless check-out, your driver will transfer you to Kasane International Airport for your onward journey home.
