Francois Malherbe

francois unravelling exploration
Francois Malherbe is a TEDxStellenbosch speaker who started his career studying Industrial Psychology and Sociology at the University of Stellenbosch. Francois is a trained vocational and Results Coaching Systems accredited coach in the field of innovative self and career exploration.

Impressive, right?

When Francois graduated, he had many questions in his heart regarding his career and so he opted not to dive into a corporate path but instead, bought a ticket to Paris and sailed the Mediterranean for a year (as you do) to plan his next move. What Francois found in the midst of a storm out in the middle of the Med was a passion for what he calls “vocational exploration”. It was this passion that led Francois to become the cofounder of ‘Unravelling Exploration’ based in Stellenbosch, South Africa.

We all know that unique ideas change the world, and Francois’ combination of vocational coaching and expedition style trips are just that: unique. It’s one of the reasons we’re backing him.

Francois has led these unique expeditions with students into Africa since 2006, and has covered countless km’s worth of African soil whilst facilitating self and career exploration in the young people he leads, inspiring them to find what drives them and how to pursue those passions – his form of social innovation. Francois, like us, also has a passion for leaving a positive legacy. He has been involved with uplifting community projects in many parts of Africa, especially Northern Mozambique, Zambia, Botswana and Namibia.
